01. Janu Tokyo

“As children, we run around and exercise with smiles on our faces, but why does that become rigid exercise when we become adults?” This question inspired the concept of “social wellness” at Janu Tokyo, embodied in “Janu Wellness,” what can be described as a playground for adults. Janu Tokyo opened in March 2024 in Azabudai Hills, offering innovative and unique hospitality that embodies vibrant energy, a playful spirit, and “connection,” “inspiration,” and “inquisitiveness.”

The hotels main attraction is the “Janu Wellness” spa facility, which spans four floors and boasts a total area of approximately 4,000 square meters, making it one of the largest in Tokyo. Included are 2 private spa houses complete with a hammam (Turkish style sauna) and banya (Russian style sauna), 7 spa treatment pools, and 5 movement studios outfitted with a golf simulator, boxing ring, and more. The pool area is one of the most well-equipped in the city, featuring not only a 25-meter-long heated pool, but also a lounge pool (jet bath), fireplace, and spacious relaxation area.

Janu Tokyo offers comprehensive and goal oriented scientific programs that focus on goal-setting and private sessions with wellness experts. The defining feature of wellness at Janu Tokyo is the concept of “social wellness.” As one of the concepts of Janu is “connection,” there is a variety of group fitness classes available, where you can work towards the same goal as other guests and members of the Janu Tokyo Wellness Collective, Janu Tokyos wellness membership program.

02. SORANO HOTEL

SORANO HOTEL opened in June 2020, committed to “well-being” and sustainability. Located in the “GREEN SPRINGS” an expansive 3.9 hectare site with lush greenery in  Tachikawa-shi, Tokyo, this urban resort hotel takes into consideration people, the environment and society, going beyond the conventional wisdom of Japanese hotels.

In keeping with their image as a well-being town” where the sky, land and people connect, the hotel adopted high-resilience urethane foam mattresses made from organic and unused materials that are good for the health of humans and the environment, as well as fair trade cotton towels with quality and ecology in mind. In addition, all 81 guest rooms have balconies overlooking Showa Kinen Park to include the lush greenery in the room design. What’s more, the beds are specifically positioned in the center of the room facing the windows for guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

DAICHINO RESTAURANT, SORANO HOTEL’s onsite restaurant, focuses on “suitable place, suitable production”, advancing even more “local production for local consumption.” The chefs use carefully selected ingredients from the local Tachikawa area, as well as from the neighboring Tama region, Chichibu, Koshin, and across the country. These select ingredients are prepared using a new type of creative Japanese crossover food that is kind to both the body and the soul.

The most distinctive feature of the SORANO HOTEL is the SORANO SPA, which is located on the 10th and 11th floors of the hotel and open exclusively to hotel guests and spa members. The “Indoor Spa” has a hot spring bath and a jacuzzi where you can enjoy the incredible view from the floor-to-ceiling glass windows while soaking in water drawn from a natural hot spring source on the property. The infinity pool on the 11th floor, one of the largest infinity pools in Tokyo, is also a mainstay of the hotel. Guests can enjoy the infinity pool morning, noon and night, all year-round. This hotel is and is not in Tokyo, providing a truly unique experience that makes it a must-visit destination.
